The worst seafood restaurant in Malta

I don’t like doing bad reviews, but I want to share this post to my followers, because in my search for the best seafood restaurant in Malta I found the worst seafood restaurant in Malta as well.

The restaurant is located in Marsaxlokk, a town known for its seafood restaurants, where locals and tourists go and enjoy. It’s a highly competitive environment and I never expected what happened.

It could be they were having a bad day, but it’s worth a post.

We arrived late for lunch, so the restaurant wasn’t overcrowded. However we sat for over thirty minutes before our order was taken. Then it took almost an hour waiting only to be told that our choices had run out. That was the most amateurish, shameful treatment we’ve ever had at a restaurant.

We changed our order, another hour waiting, to finally receive mostly deep fried food smelling like old oil, an awful salad with not fresh vegetables, the carrots with dirt and the skin on, dry old mussels, hard shrimps with their black digestive tract still intact. Some of the dishes were dirty, the cutlery stained and one of the beverages came in a glass with lipstick on.

After a two and a half hours wait we were starving, but we left everything on the plates. Since they didn’t bother asking what was wrong, we had to tell them.

Oh! I forgot. During that long wait we had enough time to see other people not comfortable with their food, insects crawling inside the glass door fridge, and a man, I suppose the manager or the owner, shouting and offending the waiters in front of the customers.

When I looked up on the web for some reviews about this restaurant, I found many people commenting about the oily smell, the lousy service, and the lack of hygiene. It’s been such a horrible experience, and I had so many bad things to say about this experience, that  I could easily get into trouble for saying all this. I didn’t keep any evidence.

Anyway, I wanted to suggest that my readers look up the reviews about the restaurants they visit. Some reviews are not fair. One excellent or terrible review cannot give you a fair idea of what you can find in a restaurant. But many reviews show you a trend. You can predict what to expect at a restaurant if you give a global view to its reviews. That’s the positive outcome I can benefit you despite my terrible experience, and I better avoid giving the name of the worst seafood restaurant in Malta.

Instead, I want to invite you to read or watch the video of my review about the best seafood restaurant in Malta 😉
